Advocate, Memorial Hermann, Corewell, and Atlantic Health System are together contributing $8 million in “strategic” investments with the San Francisco company. 

The organization cautioned that continuing to outsource exams to teleradiology providers is becoming “financially unsustainable.”

The contract dispute is between 50-physician Radiologic Associates of Fredericksburg and Mary Washington Healthcare, which has two hospitals south of Washington, D.C. 

John Simon, MD, is a big advocate for these elective exams, but the American College of Radiology and some members of the specialty oppose this practice. 

The “Lumipulse G pTau217/ß-Amyloid 1-42 Plasma Ratio” test is indicated for the early detection of amyloid plaques, a hallmark sign of the neurodegenerative disease. 

Authorities issued three recommendations for radiologists related to the issue, including avoiding the use of nonsterile US gels. 

The college's suggestions came in response to a recent request for information, seeking regulations that "stifle American businesses."   

The hospital trade group highlighted a recent survey, which found that 82% of healthcare experts expect tariff-related expenses to raise hospital costs by at least 15%.
