Interventional radiology group inks 2 more practice partnerships with urologists
A growing interventional radiology group has inked two more practice partnerships with urologists, aiming to expand access to minimally invasive procedures.
Founded by interventional radiologist Sandeep Bagla, MD, IR Centers is a platform helping other specialties manage and deliver such services. The company has now spread to 25 markets, under affiliated brands including Prostate Centers USA, Hemorrhoid Centers (run with GI specialists), and Ortho Centers (with orthopedists).
In the newest partnership, IR Centers and New Jersey Urology plan to open radiology sites throughout the Garden State, with several slated for 2026.
“This multi-site expansion represents a significant advancement in access to minimally invasive, image-guided therapies for patients across the region,” New Jersey Urology, which has 20 current practice locations, said in an April 22 announcement. “By integrating interventional radiology directly into one of the nation’s leading urology platforms, the partnership establishes a scalable, high-quality model for delivering coordinated outpatient care.”
Those involved said the new IR Centers will offer advanced embolization therapies and image-guided procedures as alternatives to traditional surgery. They’ll seek to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, chronic pelvic pain, hemorrhoidal disease and musculoskeletal conditions. New Jersey Urology hopes its patients will benefit from improved access and “reduced reliance on hospital-based care.”
Dr. Bagla and colleagues said they’ll help the urology group implement “highly standardized, data-driven” interventional radiology care pathways “at scale.” He said this new partnership continues the company’s drive to expand access to IR services nationwide. New Jersey Urology has an “extensive” regional footprint also spanning Pennsylvania, offering a chance to rapidly expand the model.
“As the centers are developed, both organizations will focus on physician training, staff education and patient engagement to ensure successful implementation and long-term scalability,” the two noted.
A 2nd partnership
Earlier this month, IR Centers also announced another new partnership, with Orange County Urology Associates, a leading specialty group in Southern California.
The two will similarly offer image-guided procedures to treat conditions commonly seen by urologists. IR Centers said it will offer Orange County UA support services such as radiation safety optimization, outcomes tracking and procedural protocols.
As part of opening the new IR program, the two organizations will work together on accreditation and licensing, building physician expertise, staff education and employee engagement. They hope to build toward a successful center launch sometime later this year.
“Our partnership with Orange County Urology Associates reflects our commitment to expanding access to advanced, minimally invasive therapies within leading specialty practices,” Bagla said in a statement April 9. “Together, we are building a model of integrated, high-quality outpatient care.”
IR Centers previously touted other partnerships across Alabama, Texas and Virginia in late 2025. The organization also has faced criticism from some interventional radiologists, who worry this care model is ceding too much control to other medical specialties.
