US-based whole-body MRI provider Ezra expands nationwide in UK

New York-based whole-body MRI provider Ezra is expanding nationwide across the U.K., the company announced recently.

Acquired by longevity startup Function Health last May, Ezra is now opening six new imaging sites across the country after first launching in the United Kingdom eight months ago. New sites span Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow with another five to follow in early 2026.

Ezra offers a range of elective whole-body MRI scans to help patients root out health concerns before they become symptomatic. Products include a basic, 22-minute MRI that runs for $499 in the U.S., all the way up to a $3,999 option that includes skeletal and neurological assessments.

Its expansion across the country comes as the U.K. has faced backlogs of patients waiting for imaging services.

“The U.K. is facing real challenges in detecting serious illness early,” Dr. Dan Brook, Ezra’s medical director for the United Kingdom, said in an announcement. “At a time when national screening pathways remain uncertain, timely access to reliable imaging becomes even more important, particularly for those with family history or elevated risk.”

Ezra said it has started rolling out its faster 22-minute scan across markets including Manchester, Newcastle, Taunton and Sidcup, charging about $2,000 USD for the service in the U.K. This option covers up to 13 major organs without imaging contrast, “providing a rapid, screening-led assessment designed for people who want a faster way to gain broad insights into their internal health.”

The company also is rolling out its first Open MRI service in West Kensington, offering a wider, open-ended option for those who experience claustrophobia, anxiety or reduced mobility. Ezra said demand for these scans has risen recently, citing strained imaging capacity in the U.K.

“By adding more sites and shorter scan options, Ezra is positioning itself to make advanced screening available to far more people across the country,” it noted.

The move comes after Ezra parent company Function Health raised $298 million in financing, ballooning its valuation to $2.5 billion. Function was founded in 2022 and offers a platform that charges users $365 annually to undergo 100-plus lab tests, empowering them to live “100 healthy years.”

Ezra noted that each of its scans is read by a consultant radiologist, with findings categorized using its own scoring system, designed to help patients understand which findings may require follow-up.
