Radiologist loses license for 5 years after lying about treating a disabled child
A radiologist in Mumbai has had his license suspended for five years by the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) after promising to treat a disabled child with stem cell therapy but only prescribing him multivitamins.
Sunil Waghmare was approached by the child’s father in 2010, according to a report from the Mumbai Mirror. Waghmare said he would treat the child, had him sit alone in a room … and did nothing but prescribe the vitamins.
The boy’s father filed a complaint against Waghmare with the MMC in 2011.
“He is my only child,” the father said, as quoted by the Mumbai Mirror. “I also wanted to make sure that this becomes a cautionary tale for others who have special kids.”
