Radiologists and other Delaware-based physicians are hiring extra security personnel, working with consultants and even buying special insurance policies in the face of various cybersecurity issues.
According to a recent article appearing in Delaware Online, the insurance policies include pre- and post-breach services, which teach physicians and staff best practices and what threats may look like. The insurance often helps a practice recover after the breach.
Andrew Dahlke, MD, a Delaware-based radiologist told reporter Meredith Newman that his group bought its insurance three years ago. They also hired an office manager with a computer science background to oversee cybersecurity. With a total of 160,000 cases a year among 10 radiologists, he needs security clearance to enter areas where records are stored.
“You see the government get broken into all the time,” Dahlke said in Delaware Online. “You wonder how to keep anything safe."
