Connecticut radiology group expands joint venture partnership with local hospital system
A Connecticut radiology group is expanding its joint venture with a local hospital system, the two touted on Tuesday.
Norwalk Radiology Consultants first partnered with Stamford Health in 2024, after previously providing professional services across the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient imaging locations since 2021.
This week, they held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a newly renovated suite at their joint venture location in Norwalk, Connecticut. The facility features nearly 8,200 square feet of modernized space, four new patient rooms and a comprehensive set of imaging services.
“We are very excited to build upon our existing collaboration with Stamford Health,” Ronald P. Lee, MD, chairman of the hospital system’s Department of Radiology and a radiologist with Norwalk Radiology Consultants PC, said in a statement Feb. 10. “For decades, NRC has served the Norwalk area with trusted, physician-led imaging and strong local clinical ties.”
Along with basic services such as 3D mammography, DEXA and ultrasound, the facility now offers MR, CT and X-ray imaging using state of the art technology, the two noted. Last year, Stamford received accreditation from the American College of Radiology as a center of excellence across all of its sites, including the joint venture location with Norwalk Radiology. The two said their collaborative entity is committed to serving Fairfield County with “cutting-edge, high-quality and personalized care close to home.”
“By transforming this facility, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing our community with greater comfort, convenience and access to advanced diagnostic services,” Liz Longmore, executive VP and chief operating officer of Stamford Health, said in the announcement. “We are incredibly proud of our joint venture with NRC and look forward to our continued growth together.”
Back in 2024, the organizations said their joint-practice management arrangement will help to improve efficiency and provide more competitive pricing. Stamford Health is a nonprofit, independent health system with more than 4,100 employees. The organization includes the 305-bed Stamford Hospital in its namesake Connecticut community and the Stamford Medical Group, which has over 40 offices offering primary and other specialty care. Norwalk Radiology Consultants, meanwhile, has been in business since 1985 and employs 17 physicians, according to its website.
