Lumexa Imaging turns profit in Q2 after previous losses
Radiology provider Lumexa Imaging turned a profit in the second quarter after previously operating in the red a year ago.
The Raleigh, North Carolina-based company—previously known as US Radiology Specialists—on Wednesday reported financial results for the three months ending June 30. Lumexa logged consolidated revenues of over $264.2 million, up more than 5.1% from the same period in 2025.
The imaging group tallied net income of $2.7 million in Q2, an improvement over the $7.2 million net loss seen in the same period last year. CEO Caitlin Zulla touted highlights so far this year including opening four new imaging centers and inking a joint venture with the Hospital for Special Surgery (its second in the last 12 months).
"During the second quarter, we continued to build on our momentum, delivering strong same-center growth, expanding our mix of advanced imaging and ramping new centers,” Zulla said in a statement Aug. 12.
"With a large and growing addressable market and durable demand tailwinds, we believe Lumexa Imaging is well-positioned to deliver sustained, profitable growth while expanding access to high-quality, lower-cost imaging for patients, providers and payers,” she added.
Lumexa also previously reported $1.7 million in net income for Q1 of 2026 and a net loss of $28.7 million in the fourth quarter of last year. Previously controlled by private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, Lumexa debuted as a publicly traded company in 2025 following a successful $463 million IPO.
In other Q2 results, consolidated advanced outpatient volumes grew 6.8% or 6.3% systemwide. Same-center advanced outpatient volumes leapt 5.2% or 4.9% systemwide. Adjusted earnings—before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization—were $56.4 million, up slightly from $56.3 million last year. This added up to an adjusted earnings margin of 21.4% as compared to 22.4% in Q2 of 2025. Lumexa also reiterated its fiscal guidance for 2026, with full-year adjusted earnings forecasted at around $238 million.
Lumexa was founded in 2018 and today employes over 5,000 team members, handling 4 million procedures across 190 outpatient imaging centers.
