Hologic continues to lead the 3D tomosynthesis marketplace as both Siemens and GE attempt to catch up, according to a new report from research and insights firm KLAS.
The report, "Women’s Imaging 2015: Are New Technologies Delivering Promised Benefits?," shows Siemens has made progress since gaining FDA approval for 3D tomosynthesis back in April. GE, according to the report, is experiencing delays due to technical difficulties, slowing down the company’s progress.
The KLAS report also examined which companies are offering the best breast ultrasound image quality. Philips came out on top, followed by Toshiba, Siemens, and GE Healthcare. Toshiba, meanwhile, received the highest overall satisfaction score.
Companies are slow to purchase automated breast ultrasound equipment, the report added, but GE has gained market share by moving forward while some competitors wait.
KLAS research director Monique Rasband said companies are eager to show the world their advancements in imaging, especially women’s imaging.
"Patients are knowledgeable about women's imaging and are seeking out healthcare organizations that use top-performing equipment for their procedures," Rasband said in a statement. "Patient satisfaction is driving industry innovation and leading organizations to proactively inform the public now about their updated imaging technology."
