Former governor joins Radiology Partners board of directors
Radiology Partners is adding the former governor of Maryland to its board of directors, the nation’s largest physician-owned radiologist practice announced last week.
Larry Hogan served as the 62nd governor of the Old Line State; his term began in 2015 and ended in 2023. During his tenure, Hogan worked on numerous initiatives aimed at improving healthcare policies, including the $216 million Maryland Cancer Moonshot, which sought to advance cancer research, expand accessibility to diagnostics and improve treatment affordability.
Hogan also has a personal history of battling cancer. In 2015, Hogan shared that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma after he had a lump in his neck checked out by his doctor. This led to the discovery of dozens of tumors and an extensive chemotherapy treatment regimen. Fortunately, he declared that he was cancer-free later that same year.
Both his advocacy and personal background make him well-suited to take on a leadership role within the company, leaders at RP contend.
“Gov. Hogan brings a unique combination of executive leadership, healthcare policy perspective and personal experience that aligns deeply with our mission,” Rich Whitney, MBA, RP board chair and CEO, said in a May 1 announcement. “He understands the importance of timely diagnosis, clinical innovation and coordinated care, and he brings insights that will be incredibly valuable as RP continues working to drive clinical, technology and AI innovation to improve patient outcomes.”
“I’m honored to join the board of Radiology Partners in support of its mission to transform radiology,” added Hogan. “I know firsthand the importance of timely, accurate diagnosis for patients and families alike. As governor, and as chair of the National Governors Association during COVID-19, I saw the essential role physicians and clinical innovation play in strengthening care delivery and improving outcomes. I look forward to working closely with the Radiology Partners team and taking part in the exciting transformative innovation that is underway.”
Rad Partners said Friday that Hogan's background and experience will support the Nashville, Tennessee-based company's long-term focus on "physician-led excellence, clinical and technology innovation, and high-quality radiology services at scale."
