Strategic Radiology adds its 1st member practice in the state of New York
Strategic Radiology, a coalition of independent imaging groups, has added its first member practice in the state of New York.
The organization on Wednesday announced the addition of East River Medical Imaging, which is based in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in Lenox Hill. Founded in 1970, the physician-owned practice also operates locations in White Plains and Westchester County, employing approximately 10 board-certified radiologists.
This marks Strategic Radiology’s 51st member practice after it also recently added Radiology Associates of San Luis Obispo, in California.
“Building and sustaining an independent radiology practice in a market as complex and competitive as New York requires vision, adaptability and an unwavering commitment to patient care,” Scott A. Bundy, MD, CEO of Strategic Radiology and a physician with member practice Radiology Associates of North Texas, said in a statement Sept. 23. “East River Medical Imaging has demonstrated those qualities for generations.”
All of East River’s physicians are board certified and fellowship trained across subspecialities such as neuro, musculoskeletal, oncologic, body and women’s imaging, along with interventional radiology. The practice provides a wide range of services including MRI, CT, cardiac imaging, PET/CT, ultrasound, X-ray and fluoroscopy. East River installed one of the first commercially available superconducting MRI scanners in the world at its East 72nd Street location in 1986, Strategic Radiology noted.
It also recently expanded into radiopharmaceutical diagnostics, theranostics and clinical research. Last year, the practice was picked as the first BAMF RadioNexus site in the tri-state area, expanding its communities’ access to clinical trials and targeted therapies, outside of traditional hospital settings. As part of the coalition, East River plans to focus on challenges shared by other private practices, including clinical innovation, workforce development, technology, operational performance, advocacy, benchmarking and strategic partnerships.
