Solis Mammography CEO stepping down
Grant Davies is stepping down as president and CEO of Solis Mammography after six years on the job, the Addison, Texas-based women’s imaging provider announced Tuesday.
He first joined the company in October 2019, previously serving as CEO of Sutter Health Hospitals, Valley Area. Davies plans to retire from the role, with Solis appointing veteran healthcare leader Lisa Ashby, previously head of Carestream Dental, as his successor.
During his tenure, Solis has logged rapid growth, ballooning from 50 imaging centers to more than 150 after executing a partnership with private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners in 2018. MDP later sold Solis last year, with Towerbrook Capital taking the reins in May.
"Lisa is a proven leader with a sophisticated understanding of how to scale complex healthcare organizations, and we're thrilled to welcome her to Solis," Davies said in a statement Feb. 3. "As Solis continues to grow our core mammography business and strategically expand into a leading, comprehensive women's diagnostic health platform, Lisa's experience driving operational excellence and commitment to mission-driven growth will position her well to guide Solis into its exciting next chapter."
Ashby brings over 30 years of healthcare leadership experience to the company, with a “strong record of growth, disciplined strategy execution and a consistent focus on improving patient outcomes,” Solis said. She became president of Carestream’s dental business in 2015 after previously serving as head of medical devices and diagnostics at Cardinal Health. Ashby was later named CEO of the business line, with Carestream Dental spun off as a separate standalone company in 2017.
During her tenure, she helped lead the transformation of the dental technology company from a capital equipment-oriented business to one also focused on software, integration and digital solutions. In 2021, she was recognized by the Healthcare Technology Report as one of the top 25 women leaders in the industry.

Solis on Tuesday highlighted her work leading a multiyear transformation initiative, which drove “significant operational scale and product innovation.” Ashby was “instrumental” in helping to shift Carestream’s focus toward advanced imaging modalities, AI driven software, the cloud, software-as-a-service solutions and integrated digital work flows, Solis said.
The company plans to continue prioritizing the patient experience and clinical partnerships under her leadership. It also will seek to “thoughtfully” expand service lines and capabilities.
"I look forward to leveraging my experience to help Solis expand its preventive and diagnostic healthcare solutions for women while continuing to elevate how we serve our health system and physician partners,” she said in the announcement. “Delivering on this vision will be a team effort, and I'm excited to work closely with the board and the talented Solis team to build on the company's strong foundation and momentum as a leader in women's health."
