Strategic Radiology enters Missouri, adding state’s largest private imaging group and its 100 physicians
Strategic Radiology is entering Missouri with the addition of West County Radiological Group, the two announced Monday morning.
Founded in 1969 and based in St. Louis, WCRG employs 100 specialty-trained physicians and is the largest private radiology practice in the Show Me State. Strategic Radiology—a coalition representing dozens of independent imaging groups—noted that WCRG offers the full range of services including diagnostic and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, medical physics and radiation oncology.
West County Radiological Group believes joining the organization is part of its commitment to expanding patient access and providing “compassionate care” to St. Louis and the surrounding community.
“We are excited to collaborate with like-minded radiology practices across the country and contribute to SR’s mission of supporting independent radiology through shared knowledge, quality initiatives and innovation,” Labib Haddad, MD, chairman of WCRG, said in a July 14 announcement from Strategic Radiology.
The practice services Mercy Health hospitals in Missouri and Oklahoma, spanning communities both urban and rural. Over the last 50 years, it has built a reputation, Strategic Radiology noted, with a diverse team of doctors, strong administrative infrastructure and “extensive” list of partnerships (including 12 hospitals and 13 outpatient centers). WCRG is a hospital-based group but strives to maintain its “independence and integrity in clinical decision-making,” SR noted on its website.
The addition balloons Strategic Radiology’s member count to over 2,100 physicians across 45 independent imaging groups. Just recently, the coalition also entered another new state with the addition of Alaska Imaging and its 20 board-certified radiologists.
“West County Radiological Group is a strong addition to the Strategic Radiology coalition,” Scott Bundy, MD, CEO and chair of SR, who also works for member practice Radiology Associates of North Texas, said in the announcement. “We look forward to the contributions they will bring to our collaborative network as we continue to strengthen and support independent radiology nationwide,” he added later.
