RadNet expands into its 11th state with new $30M Trinity Health joint venture
RadNet Inc. is expanding into its 11th state, inking a new joint venture with Catholic hospital giant Trinity Health, which it expects to generate $30 million in new annual revenue.
The publicly traded imaging center operator is teaming with Trinity’s Saint Alphonsus Health System to jointly operate five facilities in the Boise, Idaho, area.
RadNet said the joint venture was launched by acquiring a majority equity position in Intermountain Medical Imaging LLC, which owns the multimodality centers. This marks the second new state for the Los Angeles-based company in 2026, after RadNet also entered Indiana in February through the acquisition of six centers.
"This relationship with Saint Alphonsus Health System marks a pivotal moment for diagnostic imaging in Idaho," Norman Hames, RadNet’s president and CEO of Western Operations, said in a statement April 30. “We are bringing together the best of what each organization offers—Saint Alphonsus’s deep community roots and clinical excellence and RadNet’s broad expertise in managing outpatient operations efficiently and profitably.”
The joint venture includes three outpatient imaging centers in the Idaho communities of Meridian and Eagle, along with two Saint Alphonsus medical centers. RadNet will assume operations for each of the five locations, while Gem State Radiology, the existing contracted radiology practice for the JV, will continue providing professional services. The 30-rad practice also will utilize solutions from RadNet subsidiary DeepHealth to help with reporting and interpretations.
“The relationship with RadNet allows us to bring best-in-class outpatient imaging management, efficient workflows and AI technologies to improve both the patient journey and the service we provide to our referring physician communities,” added David McFadyen, president and CEO of the Boise-based Saint Alphonsus Health System, which has four hospitals and also operates across eastern Oregon and northern Nevada.
Based in Meridian, Idaho, Gem State Radiology dates to 1974, serving the Treasure Valley for over 50 years. In 1999, the practice expanded its outpatient imaging footprint by establishing Intermountain Medical Imaging, which is now selling its majority stake in the centers. Trinity Health, meanwhile, is based in Livonia, Michigan, operating 92 hospitals across 23 states. It acquired and formed the Saint Alphonsus Health System in 2010.
RadNet now operates approximately 420 imaging centers, which also span Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia.
