Private equity firm acquires Heritage Imaging
Private equity firm Align Capital Partners is acquiring a growing provider of mobile diagnostic imaging services.
The Shaker Heights, Ohio-headquartered investment group says it has inked a deal to buy Heritage Imaging for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 1989 and based in Boise, Idaho, Heritage provides diagnostic imaging to underserved and rural markets in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest.
Following the transaction, Heritage Imaging CEO Steve Coppess, MD, MBA, (a previous RB Forty Under 40 winner) will continue leading the company alongside the current management team.
“Heritage was established to help hospitals provide the best possible experience and outcomes for patients, no matter where they live,” Coppess said in a statement May 28. “While we have significantly expanded our reach over the years, we are excited to partner with Align Capital Partners to further extend our impact,” he added.
Heritage Imaging currently serves facilities across 14 states, including critical access hospitals, community clinics and other local healthcare centers. Its goal is to improve imaging access, reducing travel times for PET-CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, echocardiography and other modalities. Scans are delivered through fully staffed mobile solutions and leased equipment offerings.
Coppess and colleagues said Heritage Imaging has already closed three add-on acquisitions since 2024. Alongside Dallas-based Align Capital Partners, it plans to continue pursing M&A activity, focused on a similar outsourced imaging model in adjacent markets, along with service line expansion into new modalities.
“Heritage has built a strong reputation as a trusted imaging partner to hospitals operating in rural America,” Rob Langley, managing partner at Align Capital Partners, said in a statement. “We’re excited to back this dynamic team with additional resources, and ultimately improve access to healthcare,” he added later.
