GE out with next-gen X-ray machine

GE Healthcare introduced a new fixed radiography system Aug. 2, positioning it at the high end of the category and spotlighting its capabilities as the most advanced in its family.

The next-generation Definium 656 HD combines motorization, automation, assistive intelligence and advanced applications with fastest movement and highest weight capacity in GE Healthcare’s fixed X-ray portfolio, according to a press release.

The company suggests the system modernizes overhead tube suspension radiography to deliver “highly automated” imaging exams while easing technologists’ workloads.

The model is equipped with GE’s Intelligent Workflow Suite, Helix 2.2 image processing software and FlashPad HD high resolution detectors, GE says.

The company’s GM for fixed X-ray, Tanya Lancaster, adds that the new system not only provides optimal image quality but also can “reduce the physical workload for technologists and streamline the overall exam workflow” while improving the patient experience.
