New Lantern's AI-enabled additions aimed at streamlining mammo and PET workflows

A new offering from New Lantern—a company specializing in AI radiology solutions—has the potential to significantly improve mammography and PET workflows.

On Monday, New Lantern announced the launch of two new viewing modes that target mammography and PET imaging. The new modes will be integrated into the company’s AI platform, known as Curie. The San Francisco-based company says the updates are poised to help speed radiology workflows by removing administrative burdens and freeing up radiologists to spend more time reviewing imaging exams instead.

“Radiologists waste more time waiting for images to load than actually interpreting them,” New Lantern Founder and CEO Shiva Suri said in a statement. “New Lantern flips this script with the fastest pre-cached load times and moreover lets radiologists focus on diagnosis, while Curie automates reporting tasks which traditionally slow radiologists down.”

The mammography mode is optimized for both 2D and 3D exams. It enables multi-modality comparison of prior imaging, synchronized according to date to ensure consistency. AI-enabled annotations are automatically integrated into radiologists’ reports and hanging protocols are built in for screening and diagnostic workflows. The mode also comes equipped with CAD overlays.

The PET/CT mode is designed with oncology workflows in mind. It allows radiologists to fuse images with real-time scrolling and comes equipped with synchronized multiplanar views and SUV calculations. The mode provides one-click lesion tracking and reporting across multiple studies, supporting longitudinal care.

Both solutions are now available through New Lantern. Each is integrated into the company's existing cloud-native platform and do not require the installation of additional hardware.
