Norton Healthcare Acquires Lifescan Louisville

Outpatient diagnostic imaging center Lifescan Louisville has been acquired by the large not-for-profit health care system Norton Healthcare. With nearly 140 locations throughout Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana, including five Louisville hospitals, Norton Healthcare is the Louisville, Ky. area’s leading hospital and health care system. According to a press release, it has a 45 percent market share, and according to its latest annual report, nearly $2 million in assets. The Lifescan facility is located in the City of St. Matthews in eastern Louisville. The center provides PET/CT and CT services for cancer and cardiac patients, among others. Norton will take ownership of Lifescan’s 4,200-square-foot facility, including the PET/CT and related equipment, according to the press release. The purchase price was not disclosed. The facility is closed for several weeks for renovations to mechanical and electrical systems. When it reopens, the imaging center will be named Norton Diagnostic Center – St. Matthews. Four Lifescan employees have joined Norton Healthcare, the area's third largest employer with more than 12,000 employees. There were no layoffs. When the facility reopens as Norton Diagnostic Center – St. Matthews, Norton Healthcare will offer five outpatient diagnostic imaging centers in Louisville:

  • Norton Diagnostic Center – Fern Creek
  • Norton Diagnostic Center – Brownsboro
  • Norton Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center – Dixie
  • Norton Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center – Springs
