Solis Mammography announces hiring of Alexander Sardina as new VP, national medical director

Solis Mammography, the Addison, Texas-based independent imaging provider, announced this week that Alexander Sardina, MD, has been hired as the company’s vice president and national medical director.

Sardina’s background is in diagnostic radiology and he has previously worked as CEO and CMO for Covia Health. As national medical director, he will work with both Solis Mammography’s business leaders and its clinical leaders to see that patients receive the highest possible care. He will also play a key role in developing the company’s business and clinical strategies going forward.

James Polfreman, Solis Mammography president and CEO, said in an official statement that his team was excited to welcome Sardina aboard.

“Through his vast experience in healthcare and specifically in breast imaging, he brings a proven track record for delivering collaborative leadership, superb patient care, and employee engagement,” Polfreman said. “These elements will be key to our continued growth in new and existing markets across the U.S.”

News of an incident is a stark reminder that healthcare workers and patients aren’t the only ones who need to be aware around MRI suites.

The ACR hopes these changes, including the addition of diagnostic performance feedback, will help reduce the number of patients with incidental nodules lost to follow-up each year.
