Solis Mammography picks radiologist as president of its physician group

Breast imaging provider Solis Mammography on Tuesday announced it has picked radiologist Michael DeLeo, MD, MBA, to serve as president of its physician group.

A fellowship-trained breast imaging specialist, he brings over 15 years of experience “building high-performing clinical programs that provide quality care for women,” Solis said. DeLeo previously served as chief medical officer of Melrose (Ma.) Wakefield Healthcare and continues practicing in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

In the new role, he’ll help shape Solis Mammography’s “physician management infrastructure,” providing radiology services while leading strategic and operational initiatives across the company’s managed practices.

"His extensive leadership experience and deep clinical expertise in breast and oncologic imaging uniquely position him to lead our physician enterprise into its next chapter as we continue expanding access to high-quality breast care across the country,”  Lisa Ashby, who recently joined Solis as CEO, said in a statement Feb. 24.

DeLeo also has served as president of Hallmark Health Medical Associates in greater Boston and CMO of Foundation Medical Partners. He remains active with the latter, a multispecialty physician group in Nashua, New Hampshire, along with Commonwealth Radiology Associates, Lowell, Massachusetts, according to LinkedIn. DeLeo also is an experienced researcher and educator who has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications.

The hire comes as Addison, Texas-based Solis Mammography has added numerous radiology groups and their physicians through acquisition over the last several years. These have included the Women's Center for Radiology in Orlando, Florida, last month and Avestēe Women's Imaging, San Antonio, and its six locations in 2024. Currently, the Solis Physician Group consists of 34 radiologists, according to a company representative.

Backed by Towerbrook Capital, which bought a controlling stake last May, Solis Mammography now has over 160 centers in 24 major markets. DeLeo will look to unify the Solis Physician Group across these various parts.

"I'm honored to join Solis Mammography and to support the important work of this exceptional team," DeLeo said in the announcement. "I look forward to advancing our physician platform and expanding access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art breast screening and diagnostic services for women nationwide."
