A Radiology Partners-affiliated practice in Hartford, Connecticut, is publicizing “dramatically” reduced imaging exam times.
Jefferson Radiology said “innovative” new technology has allowed it to halve the duration of certain MRIs. Once 60 minutes, magnetic resonance imaging of the chest, feet, TSpine, and long bone now only take half an hour.
“Through this groundbreaking MRI technology, we’re proud to offer our patients more efficient exams without compromising accuracy and quality of our diagnostic services,” Ethan Foxman, MD, president of Jefferson Radiology, said in a May 16 announcement.
Foxman and colleagues said they’re spreading the use of this new software across five locations in Connecticut. Outposts in Avon and Farmington are already using the technology, while Glastonbury will follow in June, and Enfield and West Hartford in July. The practice has more information here.
Mednax acquired Jefferson Radiology in 2017, and the group became part of Rad Partners after Mednax sold its radiology assets to RP for $885 million in 2020. Around since 1963, Jefferson employs more than 75 radiologists, operates nine imaging centers and covers eight affiliated hospitals, according to its website.
Practice joins Strategic Radiology
Radiology Associates of Eugene, Oregon, is joining the Strategic Radiology coalition of independent imaging groups, leaders announced Wednesday.
Established in 1971, the practice employs 23 radiologists, providing subspecialized interpretations for five health systems and nine hospitals in its state. This marks the second Oregon group to join Strategic Radiology, after Portland-based Diagnostic Imaging Northwest became a member in 2020.
“Radiology Associates is a progressive, engaged, entrepreneurial practice that shares our interest in excellence,” Scott Bundy, MD, chair and chief executive of Strategic Radiology, said in a statement. “We are excited to have them and look forward to working together toward our common goal of strengthening independent practice.”
The group also provides teleradiology interpretations for two hospitals in Alaska and staffs dozens of imaging centers and physician offices in Oregon. Radiology Associates also is partners with the University of Oregon Athletics Department, which includes the Ducks football team and an “elite” track and field program.
Strategic Radiology now has 33 privately owned, independent practices as members, representing more than 1,500 physicians.
Radiologist leads state medical society
Leah Davis, DO, was elected to the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors during the organization’s 158th annual meeting. A Traverse City board-certified radiologist, she will serve a three-year term. Davis will represent independent, small physician groups in Michigan. She currently practices with Grand Traverse Radiologists and is active in numerous professional medical associations, including the Michigan Radiological Society.
