Block Imaging said Tuesday that it is spinning off and renaming its mobile business after recently revealing the company’s sale to Siemens and CommonSpirit Health.
Cube Mobile Imaging, as it’s now called, will not be involved in the transaction, instead continuing to operate as a standalone, family-owned business. It offers services including CT and MRI equipment rentals, help with site planning, delivery, setup and preparation for patient scanning.
“The creation of Cube Mobile Imaging will allow our team to exclusively focus on developing innovative and life-saving alternatives for healthcare providers at times and in places when only mobile can,” Zack Mitchell, VP of the newly spun-off business, said in a May 30 announcement.
Manufacturer Siemens Healthineers and hospital giant CommonSpirit first revealed plans to jointly acquire Block Imaging on May 24. The Chicago-based health system operates a total of 138 hospitals, providing and managing services on 18,000 imaging devices. Both have declined to disclose terms of the deal, only noting that Siemens and CommonSpirit will have equal representation on the Block Imaging board.
