Solis Mammography acquires 40-year-old breast imaging center alongside 3 more facility openings
Solis Mammography recently acquired a 40-year-old breast imaging center alongside opening three additional locations across two states.
The Addison, Texas-based provider group recently reached a deal to buy the Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center in Tennessee. Founded in 1983 by radiologist Kamilia F. Kozlowski, MD, the facility was the first such center in the region and has grown to become one of the largest comprehensive breast health providers in the U.S., leaders claim.
Backed by private equity firm Madison Dearborn Capital Partners, Solis Mammography bills itself as one of the leading independent providers of breast imaging services in the U.S. It now operates over 150 imaging centers including two existing facilities in Nashville, Tennessee, with Knoxville representing its 24th major market.
"Finding a partner with a shared vision to carry Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center forward was highly important to me," Dr. Kozlowski said in a statement Dec. 16. "We look forward to collaborating with Solis Mammography to build upon the foundation we've created and to continue serving the women of Knoxville and beyond."
Meanwhile, Solis Mammography this month also opened two more imaging centers in its home state of Texas and a third in North Carolina. The former includes one in Cleburne, Texas, its 39th in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, and another in Alvin, the 27th in greater Houston. All will offer the latest in breast imaging technology, Solis noted, with SmartCurve scanners for increased comfort and its Mammo+Heart AI add-on, which charges an extra fee to assess breast arterial calcification.
And finally, Solis on Dec. 1 announced the opening of yet another center in Apex, North Carolina, a fast-growing suburb of Raleigh. This marks its second center in the region and sixth in the Tar Heel State, with more slated to open in Raleigh and Durham in the coming months.
“As we continue to expand across North Carolina, we’re creating more opportunities to introduce Solis Mammography’s formula for a better mammogram to more women—a promise of comfort, convenience and compassion,” CEO Grant Davies, MHA, said in a statement. “With this new neighborhood location in Apex, we can better serve the busy lives of the women who call this community home.”
Solis also recently named a new chief medical officer and opened additional centers last month in Texas and Colorado.
