Strategic Radiology expands into Wisconsin, adding 60-year-old private practice
A nearly 60-year-old Wisconsin private practice is joining Strategic Radiology, a coalition of independent imaging groups, the two announced Wednesday.
Green Bay-based Radiology Chartered marks the 48th organization to become a member of Strategic Radiology and first in the Badger State. Founded in 1969, Radiology Chartered employs 15 physicians, operating across northeastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
“Joining Strategic Radiology is a natural next step for our practice,” Richard Horak, MD, Radiology Chartered president, said in a Jan. 14 announcement. “We were drawn to Strategic Radiology’s physician-led model and its focus on collaboration rather than consolidation.”
Radiology Chartered handles about 400,000 procedures per year and is a partner of the Emplify Health system (formerly Bellin Health), which operates 11 hospitals and 100-plus clinics. Strategic Radiology highlighted the practice’s commitment to timely and accurate interpretations, along with the strong partnerships it has formed with referrers and health systems.
“Radiology Chartered exemplifies the type of independent, physician-driven practice that Strategic Radiology was built to support,” CEO Scott Bundy, MD, also a physician with Radiology Associates of North Texas, said in the announcement. “Their long history of clinical excellence, dedication to their communities, and forward-looking leadership make them a tremendous addition to our coalition.”
Strategic Radiology was founded in 2009 as a national coalition of privately owned, independent practices coming together to improve care quality and gain operational efficiencies. Other recent additions have included Colorado Springs Radiologists in September and North Carolina-based Eastern Radiologists in August.
